September 1999 to May 2001 – Director of Electronic Student Services, Division of Student Affairs. I was the Director of the information technology department for the division. I was initially responsible for establishing the department, hiring staff (two full-time analysts and 10 student employees), developing a budget, and creating department goals.
- Worked with departments within the division to determine computing needs and implement solutions. This work included developing long range IT strategy for the division, determining resources required for implementing components of the strategy, and project management of specific implementations.
- I was responsible for interaction with the campus Information Technology Services (ITS) management and staff on projects such as Campus Pipeline implementation, consolidation of Helpdesks, and implementation of network services. I was also responsible for personnel management, and overseeing the departmental budget.
- Personnel management included the hiring, training, and advancement of two full-time employees and 10 to 12 student workers within the department.
- My duties included working with the campus ITS department to support the implementation and upgrades of departmental workstations (Apple, Windows, and Linux). My group was responsible for management of the residence hall network (RESNET), including installations, upgrades, connections, and distribution of information.
